HOW ARE TEAMS SELECTED? _Team USA and Team Europe have different selection criteria for the 12 members:

LET -- Ladies Europen Tour-- Selection Criteria
2 based on LET points: As of May 10, the top two are: E.Pedersen (DEN) and N. Madsen (DEN)

4 based on Rolex Rankings: As of May 10, Carlotta Ciganda (ESP), Sophia Popov (GER), Melissa Reid (ENG), Charley Hull (ENG)

6 Captain's Picks

The LET has a greater number of Captain's Picks than the Captain of Team USA. Does that give the LET give the team an advantage? It would seem so, but having attended the last four Solheim Cups, the number of Captains Picks has not guaranteed a victory. In the end... (my opiinion)... the Captain's ability to create a team spirit is key. Most important is the Captain's selection of what players play what matches. Some are better in alternate shot and some two-somes make great better-ball teams.

Note: On the third and final day, it is head-to-head singles matches. Each Captain submits the players and the order of play for her team -- not knowing the order of the other team. The announcement of the third day players is always very exciting.
